Tour De Michigan.... SBA (U.S. Small Business Administration) hits the road for a show like no other!

Today I am compelled to share some secret information with you.  You know... useful stuff that you usually never find out about until it is after the fact.  Think of it as "insider scoop" material that is usually only for the privileged few.  I never usually get this kind of material... so... when I do... I am very willing to share and spread the word.

The secret came to me from some of the volunteer work I do with the Downtown Development Authority in the Village of Oxford, Michigan.   This is in fact the first secret I will share with you.  It is nothing really new.... but I will repackage in in a way that may seem new to you.... so here we go...

Rule number one:  Give (volunteer) without asking for anything in return... and see what happens?

What do you think I am going to say happens?  Here is the truth.  Things fall in front of me every day that I cannot explain.  Yes... it is true... the more I push out without asking for anything in return... the more this happens.  If I slow down or stop... so do the things that fall in front of me.  I'm talking about the law of sowing and reaping folks.   It can also be explained from a scientific point of view.... and again... I will repackage it to make it seem new.  Sit still and do nothing... and nothing will happen.  A body at rest stays at rest... apply a force to the body at rest and it can begin to have movement.

Think of your life experiences and apply this theory.  I can apply it to just about anything.  I'll start with exercise because it is something I can move in and out of on a cyclical time line.  When I get into a good flow of exercise... we all know that the body releases it's own legal drugs in the name of endorphin's that flood our blood stream and make us feel great.  Here is the problem.  We have to get up off our butts and do something in the way of exercise AND that might be painful or make us sweat.  So... if your like me... we sometimes take a pass and  stay in a state of stasis or stillness because it is easier.  Inevitably we will reach a point where we feel kind of sluggish and cranky.  Our brains know what to do and begin to send a message that says... get up... get up... get your body in motion... and if we hit it right on we actually begin to follow the order.

What happens?? We ride a bike, take a walk,  throw around some weights, head to the gym and... wow... did that feel great?  Why then don't we do this all the time?  Well... probably has something to do with being distracted by things like e mail, facebook, twitter, cable tv, texting, driving, texting and driving.  You get my point.  We have become a society that is "at rest" moving only our fingers just like I am doing right now in the process of writing this to you.  I am sitting in the most comfortable chair (over stuffed, leather , recliner) in the upright position with a coffee and bag of animal crackers at my finger tips.  NOW... I am ready to get to the next point.

Rule number 2:  Put down that texting device, AND get your body in motion!  Exercise will make your body, mind , and spirit come alive.  You don't have to run your self into the ground.  Just a start with something like 10 minutes a day and get your heart rate up.  Add to that each week and your rolling!

Rule number 3:  Educate your self.  As much as we teach in our society you'd think we'd be getting further ahead?  Really?  Here is the problem.  We are always focused on the end.  You start out in preschool or kindergarten... right?  Then you reach "the end" and today we celebrate this like it is a major accomplishment.  To a point... we should celebrate our success and I am a big believer in positive reinforcement.  But... the caps and gown routine makes is a little much for the early steps in life.  In other words... we've taught our kids to over celebrate.  They expect to be showered with congratulatory gifts and excessive recognition.... I'll throw the flag here...."Excessive Celebration"... 10 yard penatly... repeat down!
Folks... school is never out.  Your either living or dying.... growing or wilting.... at rest or in motion.  Get your body in motion... get your mind in gear.

Now... to the point.... I have made a great friend in the SBA or U. S. Small Business Administration.  I have been a business owner for over 30 years now AND for that matter a tax payer as well.  Did you ever hear anyone say..."Gee... I don't think I paid enough tax this year.... I think I send in some extra!  My point here is that... here is an educational opportunity that you've likely already paid for (paid taxes?) AND it is right here... right now... and coming to a neighborhood near you.  THAT's RIGHT... the Road Show begins with a line up of powerful tools at your disposal to help educate, finance, build confidence, help you with business plans, vision planning, and support your efforts in ways you'd never imagined.  Take a look at this Pure Michigan Line up!
